The collective name for a group of Fleas is a swarm
Fleas range in size from as little as
2mm up to a whopping 6mm
Flea populations in the house are
generally made up of 5% adult, 10% pupae, 35% larvae, 50% Eggs.
Facts about the life cycle of Fleas
- There are four stages to a flea’s
life cycle – Egg, Larva, Pupa and Adult:

- Adult
Flea
- Adult fleas immediately search for
a host to feed on
- The fleas lifecycle repeats itself
once the female adult flea has fed.
- The Egg stage - Female Adult fleas
will lay up to 45 eggs a day which can drop on to a host (cat,
dog, rabbit, human) or into nearby carpet, furniture or bedding.
- The Larvae - Larvae can grow up to
a quarter of an inch long. They predominantly feed on fecal
matter left by Adult Fleas
- The pupa - develops into adult
fleas within the casing when the surrounding environment is
suitable
- Adult Fleas are parasites that feed
on the blood of their host such as pets or humans
