Rohrau, in Hungary, March 31, 1732
- Fact 3 - Joseph Haydn was just a
few weeks younger than George Washington
- Fact 4 - As a little boy Joseph
Haydn loved to hear his father and mother sing and while they
sang he played on a "make-believe" violin made of two sticks
- Fact 5 - Joseph Haydn left home at
the age of 6 to start his education first becoming a choir-boy
at Hainburg
- Fact 6 - When he was 8 years old he
entered St. Stephen's in Vienna as a chorister
- Fact 7 - After Joseph Haydn left
St. Stephen's he worked hard for many years. Many people whom he
met in this time helped him

period were: Metastasio, Porpora, Gluck, Mozart and his father,
and Beethoven

Beethoven's teacher
- Fact 10 - Joseph Haydn was a short,
stout man, with kindly gray eyes, and very dark hair
- Fact 11 - Joseph Haydn spent 30
years with the family of Prince Paul Anton Esterhazy, during
which time he composed 5 masses, 40 string quartets, 60
symphonies, 30 clavier pieces, 105 cello trios and many other
works for funerals, weddings and birthdays

father of the Symphony and of the String Quartette
- Fact 13 - Joseph Haydn composed a
song which will always be famous. It is called The Emperor's
Song
- Fact 14 - Joseph Haydn died in
1809, he was 77 years of age
