If you are trying to improve you dream recall and dream memory it may be helpful to wake yourself up during one of these cycles because interrupted dreams are often the ones we remember. The following tips will also help on how to improve dream memory, your dream recall: Establish a regular sleep pattern and make sure you are getting sufficient sleep Cut out alcohol, drugs and cigarettes and any drinks which contain caffeine Drink a warm, milky drink before going to bed Before you fall asleep, remind yourself that you want to remember your dream Five minutes after the end of a dream, 50% of the content is forgotten and after ten minutes 90% is forgotten, so ensure that you keep a paper and pen or tape-recorder by your bedside to record your dream as soon as you wake up You could attempt to wake yourself earlier than usual as interrupted dreams are often the ones we remember Concentrate on the content of the dream and try not to be distracted by thoughts of the coming day Write down all of your dreams, symbols, emotions and images that you experienced in your dream
